GoKart is a ride service for kids ages 6-17. Our mission is to help parents by getting their child where they need to go when they can't. It's a challenge every parent faces - how to get their child where they need to go and when they need to go, without sacrafacing their other responsibilities.
GoKart was created by a mom who understands the challenge of balancing professional and personal responsibilities. As a mom of three, Stacy understands the struggle of driving multiple kids to all of their activities. Most important, Stacy understands the level of responsibilty and care required when transporting a child. She built the company with the same safety concerns in mind that other parents have when putting their children in someone else’s car.
In effect, our service exceeds the highest of safety measures and has allowed GoKart to be approved for insurance for the transportation of minors and as vendors for child transportation under federal grants.
GoKart is a simple, convenient and reliable solution borne out of necessity and fueled by the level of care we provide to parents and their children.
We currently have service in Wake, Durham, Orange, Johnston, Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties.

GoKart charges competitive rates compared with other ride share and child transportation services. Exact rates are dependent on mileage, time and location.
Users are able to pay through the app and all transactions are processed through Stripe. We designed the app this way to make booking a ride as seamless as possible. Once you have booked your child's ride, you will see a pending charge from GoKart. You will not be charged for the ride until the ride is complete. If the ride is cancelled or not claimed by a driver, then you will not be charged for the ride.

$17 base fare that covers the first 5 miles of a drive.
Additional per mile rates are dependent on location
Base fare does not include any booking and/or processing fees. Tips for drivers are not included and are optional..
$5 for a third passenger
$5 for a walk-in at pickup or drop off

Waiting time charges may occur if a driver must wait on a child or if a driver experiences delays due to traffic while completing a drive.
No problem! We follow all school carpool procedures. The best solution is to scan and e-mail the carpool tag to Stacy Shannon (firstname.lastname@example.org) and she will then forward the tag to your driver so that they can print it out. If the school just needs the carpool number, your driver can print or write that out. If your school requires an original carpool tag, please contact your school to see if the driver can go in and obtain on their first visit.
We handle carpool pickups on a daily basis. We are happy to accommodate your needs. Most often, we can work out a system with the school to make it as safe and easy as possible for you and your child.
We appreciate that you and your child may wish to have the same driver. However, our current system does not allow you to request a driver. You are welcome to contact a driver to let them know when you are booking. It is also encouraged that you book recurring rides at the same time, as it increases the likelihood that the same driver will claim your rides.
We are working to add this feature to our app and we hope to have it ready for you soon!
It is easy to view your driver's information! Once a driver accepts your ride, you will receive a notification and access through the app to view their information. You are able to view their picture, profile, vehicle information and picture. You will also have access to their contact information. We encourage you to share your driver's name and image with your child so that they feel comfortable knowing who their driver is.
Soon, you will have the option to turn on your child's phone to receive a text with their driver's information and alerts when their driver is on the way and arrived at pick-up.
You will receive confirmation once your child's ride has been claimed by a driver. You will have access to your driver's information, image and vehicle details. On the day of your scheduled pick-up, your driver will arrive at the specified time and place. Your driver will follow any instructions that you give in the message box at the time of booking.
The app will let you know when your driver is on the way to pick-up, arrived at pick-up and dropped-off. We encourage you to have your text notifications turned on in your settings so that you receive text notifications. You can track your child's ride so you know where your child is at all times.
After the ride is complete, you will have the option to tip your driver and the ride details will be displayed in your ride history on the app. You can easily book the same ride for a future date by selecting "Book Again".
We ask that children under 13 years of age to sit in the backseat for their safety and to comply with federal law. When you are scheduling your GoKart drive, please leave any detailed notes about your pick up in the message box. This is your chance to tell your driver anything specific. Your driver receives that information and will reach out if they have any questions.
You can book with GoKart to take your kids anywhere they need to go! School, camp, the dentist, the mall, a sleepover, another parent’s house, practice, etc.
We only require that your child be dropped-off somewhere there is adult supervision. We care deeply about your child's safety and will not leave a child without another adult being inside the building or present at pick-up.
Things happen! We know that schedules change, especially with kids! We do our best to accommodate you with any minor changes to a ride, such as pickup time or location. Any time your child no longer needs transportation as scheduled, the ride must be cancelled on the GoKart app.

There is no cancellation fee for rides cancelled more than 24 hours in advance from the scheduled pick-up time.
There is a 50% refund for rides cancelled between 4-24 hours of the scheduled pick-up time.
There is no refund for rides cancelled within 4 hours of the scheduled pick-up time.
Just as with babysitters or doctor appointments, we must compensate our drivers appropriately and that includes compensating for last minute cancellations. We appreciate your understanding. You are welcome to contact our customer support for further assistance 877-860-4010.
We can drive as many kids as will fit safely into the driver’s car. Many of our drivers have minivans and SUV’s to accommodate multiple passengers. Two passengers are included in the fare. We charge $5 for per additional passenger.
GoKart is a ride service specifically for children ages 6 to 17. Other rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft are not insured to carry passengers under 18 years of age. By contrast, GoKart has a unique and specific insurance policy to transport minors in NC. Every GoKart driver undergoes a rigorous screening and interview process before they can drive your most precious cargo. GoKart conducts a multi-jurisdictional background check, DMV check and drivers are interviewed by multiple members of GoKart's senior team before being approved. We only hire drivers that we trust with our own kids.
We are happy to provide your child with a booster seat while riding with GoKart. Should your child require a booster seat, we require that you include the request for a booster seat in the message box at the time of booking so that your driver is aware they will need to arrive with a booster seat installed.
GoKart operates between the hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday-Friday. We will drive before or after hours and weekends depending on driver availability. You can reach our customer service at 877-860-4010 or email email@example.com for assistance.
You are welcome to use the app 24/7 to book your child's ride. We strongly recommend that you book at least a day in advance to guarantee a driver. We cannot guarantee rides booked within 4 hours and there is a last minute booking fee.
Absolutely! You are able to add additional passengers and drop-off locations at the time of booking. You can leave any special instruction for your driver in the message box. We charge $5 per additional stop and $5 per additional passenger (after the first two). It is up to the parents to determine how they wish to split the cost.
As soon as you book a ride, the ride request goes out to drivers in your area. Your ride is pending until it is claimed by a driver. Once a driver has claimed your ride, you will receive a notification and be able to view your driver's profile through the app. Your driver's profile will include their photo, car information, bio and contact details. You have direct access to your driver.
Throughout the ride, you will be able to track your child's ride. You will also receive notifications when:
- Your driver is on the way to pickup
- Your driver has arrived at pickup
- Your driver has safely reached your child's destination and your ride is complete
After the ride is complete, you can easily rebook the same ride for another date by selecting the "rebook" option. You can leave a tip for your driver and view ride history.

Our app based technology allows you to book as far in advance as you like! You can book weeks (or even months!) ahead of time. It helps us and our drivers when users book ahead of time due to driver availability. We do our best to cover every ride. However, there is a higher likelihood of a ride being claimed that is booked in advance.
You can cancel a ride at any time. There is no cancellation fee for a ride cancelled with at least 24 hour notice. You can read more about our cancellation policy under the "How can I cancel a ride I have booked?"
A pending ride means no driver has claimed your ride. This is most likely due to driver availability. You will receive notification if and when your ride has been claimed. You can cancel a pending ride at no charge (even within 24 hours).
We encourage you to book at least a day in advance since rides booked ahead of time are much more likely to be claimed by a driver due to driver availability.
